Our Camps

Special Days Camps is the second longest running oncology camp in the world. Over the years our service to our families have grown – check out what cool programs we have to offer!

Days Thursday-31Special Days Camp – This is the seed that started it all! Special Days Camp was founded to create a fun week-long summer camp experience for children with cancer. Under the watchful eye of skilled doctors, nurses, and a well-trained staff, campers are able to experience everything from swimming and hiking to archery and horse back riding and much more. Our staff is there to help them every step of the way. Because of the magical feel of Special Days, at age 18 many campers return as staff to continue the traditions and serve families in need. If you are looking for a place that has all the support and understanding of home with the staff of a hospital, Special Days Camps is the place to be.

Special Days Partners Camp – Here at Special Days we recognize that cancer affects the whole family.  Often a sibling can feel left out because of the attention a family must place on the child with cancer. We don’t want anyone to feel left out — ever! So Partners Camp, a separate weeklong program exclusively for the siblings of children with cancer, was born.  Siblings can experience all the fun, support, and growth that their brother or sister gets to experience. Friendships that last a lifetime are formed during this camp session as Partners are surrounded by peers that understand what it’s like to have a brother or sister with cancer.

Winter Camp – At Special Days we truly thrive on the connections we create. Simply put, going an entire year without seeing the family can be tough, so we designed a Winter Camp Reunion.  During this fast paced weekend, children with cancer and their siblings get together for some intense fun. Broomball, capture the flag, ice fishing, dancing, crafts, and of course sledding and skiing.

Transportation We’ve got you covered! Driving to camp two or three times can be a pain, especially if you live on the east side of Michigan. We totally get that!  And, to be honest, the kids would probably rather start their camp adventure early by traveling with all the friends they made the previous summer. We can help your camper get to camp, through bussing options available from Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Detroit.

Volunteering  – If you like to help promote great things in this world, we have ways for you to accomplish that goal. Apply to become part of our award winning staff, participate in fundraisers, or make a donation. Any little bit of effort, time, or money helps – and is deeply appreciated.
